Tastemaker Spotlight - Aquaus / by Eric Lum

I’m always looking for artists who embody the philosophy of what it takes to have “A Lovers Ambition” – the determination to succeed at whatever it is that you love to do in life. As an artist or musician, expressing a love for your craft is number one. True artists are those who create music regardless of whether they are paid to do so or not.

In June of 2013, I was perusing the Coda Agency roster when I happened to stumble upon a young artist from the United Kingdom named Izzy Bizu. As soon as I heard her music, I knew she had what it takes to go to the next level so I reached out to her team to get involved.

Whenever I come across an artist I admire, I look for ways to support them by getting their music out to the world. In Izzy’s case, I was able to help her secure placements on media outlets such as singersroom.com and soultrain.com. In June of 2014, Izzy made her debut at Glastonbury Festival. A month or so later, she was signed to Epic Records.

Recently, her newest video for “Give Me Love” was premiered by The Fader. When I first heard the news, I couldn’t have been happier. The Fader is hands down one of the most definitive publications in music and popular culture. Although there’s still a lot of work to be done, the world now has the opportunity to see what I’ve been seeing for the last few years. I find the most joy in identifying talent early on in their career and watching them grow into someone they have always envisioned becoming.
